Software component

A software component is a part (a component) of the software that is installed on mobile platforms. You can distinguish three types of software components:

• Components for applications (e.g. Java OSGi bundles)
• Components for the operating system (OS)
• Components for firmware

Software components are grouped in software packages, which are then installed on the mobile platforms.
